Metallica recorded the live demo Metal Up Your Ass at the Old Waldorf, San Francisco, California, November 29, 1982. Metal Up Your Ass was the first choice for the title of Metallica's debut record before the band was encouraged to make a change and landed on Kill 'Em All.​
