...And Justice For All Art

The art for ...And Justice For All was originally conceived by James Hetfield and Lars Ulrich. The band wanted to depict legal and political injustice for the cover of their fourth studio album. They turned their concept over to Reiner Design Consultants Inc., where Roger Gorman managed art design, and his brother Stephen Gorman created the acrylic painting of Lady Justice under assault.

The sculpture "Gerechtigkeitsbrunnen" ("Fountain of Justice") in Frankfurt, Germany, was the primary reference for the album's impactful cover image.
