MTV Icon

Metallica was named an MTV Icon on May 3, 2003. The televised event featured tributes from Korn, Avril Lavigne, and Snoop Dogg, as well as a documentary about the band. The band performed a medley of their own songs with Robert Trujillo in his first televised performance as Metallica's bassist. ​
